Opening the Way in Prayer

It is with deep sadness that we say a final goodbye to Steven Loots, who passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on September 6th, 2026.

His life and testimony were a joy to all who knew him — both those who already walk with Christ and those still finding their way. His tireless pursuit of bringing people to Jesus around the world continues even now through the lives he touched and the work he began. Steven often said the work was never about his name. It was about villages that still need a church, pastors trained in their own language, and ordinary believers who become disciple-makers.

As a leader, grandfather, and devoted family man, he served us all in Harvesters with generosity and loving care. What feels like a great earthly loss is, for heaven, a glorious gain. Deepest condolences to Hannalie and the boys and the family during this time.

Rest well, Steven.

God’s timing is perfect! After ten years, the Lord opened the doors for 120 pastors to receive the Kick Off training in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

We believe that God will bring revival to this nation, that many people will be saved, and that the church will be strengthened through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Please pray for Argentina, its pastors, and the church.

To the glory of God, 86 pastors received the Harvesters vision in a city in Mexico last month. The pastors face resistance to the true gospel but also see great potential and a great need for Christ and they believe that together we can help transform their city. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will manifest and break open people’s hearts so that they may be born again through the love of Christ. All for His glory!

Praise God with us for opening the way into the beautiful country of Gabon! Our team completed the first introduction to Harvesters’ vision and methodology and it was received very well. Please continue to pray for this exciting new movement – may God’s will be done in Gabon!

Praise God for the opportunity to address around 200 attendees at a women’s conference last weekend despite very difficult circumstances. Please pray that God, through His Spirit, will continue to encourage these women to play their part in church planting, evangelism and making disciples who will make disciples!

Dear praying family – through your faithful intercession you are playing a huge part in expanding God’s kingdom in Angola and beyond. By God’s grace, the Angola team could add new churches to their network recently. One pastor said: “The church is sleeping and I have been awakened personally to get up and lead the local church in church planting”. Pray for this pastor and others like him to follow God’s calling faithfully and with boldness.

A new home for Harvesters! We had the privilege to celebrate the official opening of our new South African head office in the Western Cape earlier this month. Thank God with us for this special gift! Please pray with us that God will use this building and its grounds for His glory. May His will be done.

Would you please pray for our friends and partners who launched Harvesters’ Opening the Way podcast last week. It aims to bring authentic voices from the frontline of global mission and will share stories and practical insight from pastors, field workers, and experts serving where the church grows under pressure. Pray that the podcast will bring glory to God and that it will help to expand His Kingdom.

Praise God with us for several Kickoff sessions that could be completed in South Asia last month. On one occasion our Regional Director wrote: “The fear of persecution was tangible as was the fear of stepping out and sharing the Gospel openly, but God gave them courage” … and their excitement afterward was tangible too! Please continue to pray for the precious people in South Asia.

Praise God with us for the wonderful partnership with Biblica through which Harvesters is able to deliver even more Bibles to the churches that were planted in Ethiopia and beyond. During a recent visit to Ethiopia Harvesters’ Regional Director for East Africa emphasised: “As I often say: we are part of the process, but Jesus is building His Church. We plant churches to change lives and transform communities — and that is exactly what we are seeing in Ethiopia. Let’s keep praying, keep moving, and keep sharing Jesus with the world.”

Please continue to pray that each Bible placed will be used by the Holy Spirit to train, transform and bring hope to many communities world wide.
