Some of us are called to go and others are called to give, but all of us have the ability to pray faithfully. Many times we hear about Islamic extremists who want to establish Islamic states in certain parts of the world. Most of the time these regions include the Middle East and large parts of northern Africa, but now it is also a harsh reality in Mozambique.
The most northern province in Mozambique, is Cabo Delgado – it is situated on the border of Tanzania. The situation in this province has worsened since 2014. This is due to the fact that the extremist Muslim group, Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah, with strong connections to Isis (Islamic State) have started a terror regime. They have killed more than 1 000 people in horrific attacks. More than 250 000 people were forced to flee their homes and are now living as refugees.
The situation in northern Mozambique is getting worse every day. Innocent people have to flee their homes. Children are losing their parents. These children are deprived of a normal childhood – they cannot go to school, they cannot play outside and they have to leave their homes behind in order to survive.
During these dire times it is important to hold onto hope. It is however impossible for someone to hold onto hope if they do not know Jesus. Your prayers can play a vital role in changing lives in Mozambique.
We read in the Word of God in Matthew 18: 19-20 that He is with us when we pray, He hears our prayers, “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Pray with us that God will give them the necessary strength, wisdom and courage to face this terrible situation. Ask the Lord to open the way for Harvesters Ministries to offer comfort, shelter and refuge to those who are left without hope. Pray that those who are unbelievers will have the opportunity to hear the Gospel and accept Jesus Christ.
In 1 John 5:15 we are reminded that God answers the prayers of His children, “And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him.”
Your prayers make a difference. God still does miracles and He is still in control. Thank you for praying with us.
